The Cailiffs of Baghdad, Georgia is an Indie Next pick

Independent bookstores around the country have chosen The Cailiffs of Baghdad, Georgia, as an Indie Next pick for September! It will be featured in the September IndieBound newsletter in bookstores and online. It will also be featured in September, with a story-behind-the-novel essay, at www.powells.com.

Only a few weeks remain until the official pub date of September 6. Usually Labor Day makes me sad, as the final day of summer. This year, I don't know what I feel: excited, nervous, maybe mostly unable to believe--after living with Gladys Cailiff and Force and May and Miss Spivey and Theo Boykin so alive in my head only for YEARS--that it's finally, really a book. Out there, where anybody can read it. I hope everybody does!
