After reading with Amy Greene at the Southern Book Festival in Nashville on Oct 9 and making a whirlwind tour of North Carolina that included three beautiful bookstores--McIntyre's in Fearrington Village, Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill, and Quail Ridge in Raleigh--I joined forces with Randall Kenan and our mutual editor Alane Mason at the Center for the Study of the American South on the gorgeous UNC campus in Chapel Hill. Now I'm on my way to Georgia with my husband John and my mother, who attended Peabody High School with Flannery O'Connor in Milledgeville. I can't wait to see my friends Phoebe and Elizabeth Stuckey-French and Teri Grimm and my Georgia family--including Grace CALIFF Stanford and my aunt Sissie and Mom--all gathered in Flannery's dining room at Andalusia! More Georgia events to come . . .
